MEBA-MM&P PASS-THROUGH
AGREEMENT
The
MEBA District Executive Committee and Executive Board members of the
Masters, Mates & Pilots recently reached an agreement on an extension of
the
pass-through program as it applies to the Pacific Class L-9 vessels
operated
by Marine Transport Lines for the benefit of CP LYKES.
The
agreement extends the current pass-through but allows for up to 20 MEBA
deck officers to be registered as a Class "C" in both MEBA and MM&P
Union
Halls at any given time. For this purpose, a Mate in the pass-through
will
be issued a universal shipping card that must be handed over to the
dispatcher in the Union Hall (either MEBA or MM&P) where the Officer
takes a
job.
Additionally,
any MEBA pass-through member bidding on a Pacific Class L-9
vessel in an MM&P Union Hall will have Class "B" shipping status and
will
have priority over Class "B" MM&P deck officers bidding for such jobs,
provided that the MEBA deck officer's card is older. Additional details
are
available at union halls.
MEBA
Deck Officers who are interested in the Mates Pass-Through Program
between MEBA and MM&P should contact David Tubman at MEBA Headquarters.
Mr. Tubman can be reached at 202-638-5355 or by e-mail at
dtubman@d1meba.org.
