The
American Maritime Congress is a maritime research and educational
organization, made up of MEBA-contracted companies guided by the
leadership of President Gloria Tosi.
AMC's
tireless battles on behalf of maritime legislation such as the
preservation of the Jones Act have been greeted with remarkable success
and provide welcome advantages to contractually represented companies.
AMC
maintains an inexhaustible vigil in support of strong maritime laws
benefiting the U.S.-flag. This partnership targets issues such as
compliance of important Cargo Preference statutes that benefit U.S. Flag
Companies.
In
addition AMC has brought former Maritime Administrator and President
of shipping company First American Bulk Carrier Corporation John Gaughan
onboard as AMC Vice-President of Government Affairs.
MEBA
President Ron Davis chairs the AMC Board.
The
American Maritime Congress was established in 1977 between MEBA and
its contracted deep-sea companies as part of collective bargaining. AMC
President Gloria Tosi noted that although listed as a research and
educational group, "our real mission can be summed up in two words:
ships and jobs." |
