2006 M.E.B.A. Legislative Updates
SEPTEMBER 2006
For the month
of August Congress was away for their traditional summer recess spent in
home districts meeting with constituents and campaigning for the elections
this fall.
Congress returns this week for a one month session with the House and Senate
Target Adjournment date set for October 6th. The Senate is expected to take
up HR 5361 – Fiscal 2007 Defense Appropriations on September 7th.
National politics are expected to loom large over this brief session as
Republican and Democratic leaders jockey for position heading into this
year’s midterm elections on November 7th.
